Tuition and Fees

Tuition Schedule

In 2017, the Great Books Summer Program is planning to offer one, two, and three and four-week programs at Amherst College; one, two, and three-week programs at Stanford University; and one and two week programs at the University of Chicago.  We will also offer a two-week session at Oxford, a one week session in Dublin, Ireland and special sessions in Beijing.

Tuition includes all instruction, supervision and recreational activities, and three meals per day with snacks provided.  Additional fees below also apply.

Registration Fee

All applicants incur a non-refundable $250 registration fee payable with their tuition deposit.

Materials

There will also be a materials fee of $225 for one-week students, $275 for two-week students, $325 for three- week students or $375 for four-week students.  Materials include the rental of a kindle touch loaded with our reading anthology, a full length book featured in the weekly curriculum, a digital copy of the anthology, a notebook, t-shirt, book bag, water bottle and all other necessary elective supplies. Snacks and special meals are also provided during the session.

Excursions

Students attending two, three or four-week sessions will have a $175 excursion fee each week to cover the cost of weekend activities.  Students who attend the Beijing residential travel program will have an excursion fee of $400.  Students attending our Oxford program will have an excursion fee of $650 to cover the day trips as well as daily outings.  Students attending the Dublin program will have an excursion fee of $300 to cover daily excursions throughout the city. The combined Oxford and Dublin program will have an excursion fee of $950. 

Airport Transfers

Arrangements for airport transportation to and from Amherst and Stanford can be made for an additional $85 each-way.  Students who apply to our Oxford or Dublin programs will receive information about travel upon registration.

International Application Processing

An international fee of $150 will be added for each student arriving from outside the US, UK, or Ireland.

Sibling Savings

If two or more siblings attend, each sibling receives a savings of $100 on their tuition.

Referral Discount

For each first-time attendee you refer to the 2017 Great Books season, you will receive a $100 savings on tuition.

Payment Schedule

To be considered for enrollment, a student's application must include a $500 deposit.  This includes a $250 tuition deposit which will be credited toward your total tuition fee and a $250 non-refundable registration fee.  The payment schedule for the Great Books Summer Program is as follows:

Deposit of $500 is due with your application.
Please note that this includes a tuition deposit of $250 which is fully refundable until March 13, 2017. It also includes a $250 registration fee which is non-refundable.

Final Payment is due at minimum two weeks prior to the start of camp.  Families paying by credit card have the option to pay in full at the time of enrollment, pay in monthly installments leading up to a final payment deadline of May 5, 2017, or may request that the balance be automatically charged to their account on April 7, 2017. 

Late Season Enrollment

An application submitted after the May 1, 2017 deadline requires full payment at the time of enrollment.  Enrollments will continue to be accepted as long as space is available.

Refund Policy

All cancellations and requests for refunds must be made in writing to Great Books Summer Program Admissions, PO Box 743, Fairfield, CT 06824 or faxed to 1- 203-255-0675.  You will receive a confirmation of your refund request within one week of receipt. There are no refunds for cancellations after March 13, 2017.
