Extended Programs
A number of special features set the multiple week sessions apart. First, students who come for two or three weeks will be able to experience entirely new academic content each session they attend —new readings, fresh lectures and unique speakers and guests.
Also unique to the multi-week programs are the weekend excursions. Taking place on the Saturday in between sessions, all campers will head out to an exciting location near their campus. In 2008, students at Amherst College went to Six Flags New England, to Boston, and to the Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art. Stanford students went to Alcatraz and Monterey Bay.
Extended programs provide the opportunity for students to forge lasting friendships and immerse themselves more fully in the great books and big ideas of our program.
The Great Books Summer Program offers two-week sessions for students at Stanford University, Amherst College and at the College of William & Mary in historic Williamsburg, Virginia. Three-week sessions are available to students in the Senior Program at Amherst College and Stanford University.
The Intermediate Program is for students entering grades 6-8 and the Senior Program is for those entering grades 9-12.
