Larry Beinhart

Screenwriter and award-winning author

Larry Beinhart  Larry visited with students at Amherst in Summer 2010

Larry Beinhart is best known for Wag the Dog (the book on which the film starring Robert DeNiro and Dustin Hoffman was based). He has published nine novels and two non-fiction books. He's won two Edgars, a Gold Dagger, the Grand Prix de Literature Policier, and has been nominated for several others. His most recent book, Salvation Boulevard, was made into a movie starring Pierce Brosnan, Ed Harris, Jennifer Connelly, Marisa Tomei, Greg Kinnear, and Jim Gaffigan.  Four of his screenplays have been optioned.

Larry’s articles have appeared in the NY Times, LA Times, Washington Post, Chicago Tribune, the Baltimore Sun, Huffington  Post, Alternet, Buzzflash, Common Dreams and many others.

He is a Fulbright Fellow, a member of senior common room Wadham College, Oxford University, and is a part time ski instructor.
