On the Campus of: Dublin Writer’s Program: Trinity College

New for 2024! This exciting new Writing Program in the Literary Travel Adventures series is anchored at Ireland’s oldest university, Trinity College. Founded in 1592, home to the Book of Kells, and located in the heart of Dublin, Trinity is recognized for its academic excellence.  With a tradition of scholarship spanning more than four centuries, Trinity College is the alma mater of Bram Stoker, Oscar Wilde, Jonathan Swift, and Anne Enright.

Great Books student writers will explore a rich corner of the Emerald Isle and the works of great Irish writers as they take inspiration from your surroundings to imagine and write original works together. Outings may include Bram Stoker’s Castle, Dún Laoghaire, the National Gallery, St. Patrick’s Cathedral and Park, and more points of literary and historical significance.

Residential Program for Writers - New

Write with us in Ireland! This one-week program anchored at Trinity College gives students the opportunity to let the rich literary history of Dublin and Ireland inspire their writing.

Academics

A Great Books experience rich with Irish literature, history, and storytelling!

Students in our Dublin Writer's Program will spend the mornings in craft seminars, learning writing techniques and discussing the works of great Irish writers such as Joyce, Yeats, Swift, Shaw, and Wilde. Late morning and evening writing sessions give students the opportunity to put pen to paper to create original works.

A special feature of our Dublin program is afternoon workshops and clinics with notable Dublin authors and theater artists where students can learn more about the history and tradition of writing and storytelling on the Emerald Isle.

Writing & Cultural Exploration

To fully experience this literary treasure of a city, we spend the afternoons and most evenings touring the streets of Dublin and exploring the sites that inspired this city's great stories.

Outings will include Trinity College, its library and the Books of Kells, James Joyce Tower, Bram Stoker's Castle, and other points of literary and historical significance.

This residential program for students in grades 9-12 can be combined with our program at Oxford or both our Edinburgh and Oxford programs for a longer experience.  Learn more about Great Books Literary Travel Programs and see the schedule for a typical day at camp.
