Great Books is excited to bring our inspiring program to Northwestern University. Founded in 1851, Northwestern has two campuses located on Lake Michigan: the 240-acre main campus in Evanston, about 12 miles north of downtown Chicago, and a 25-acre campus in Chicago.
Northwestern is one of the country’s leading private research and teaching universities. This prestigious school is ranked 10th among national universities by U.S. News & World Report. Additionally, the university's former and present faculty and alumni include 19 Nobel Prize laureates, 38 Pulitzer Prize winners, six MacArthur Genius Fellows, 16 Rhodes Scholars, 65 members of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences and two Supreme Court Justices.
Northwestern is a leading producer of Academy Award, Emmy Award, and Tony Award-winning actors, actresses, playwrights, writers, and directors. Notable alumni include authors Saul Bellow, George R.R. Martin, Gillian Flynn, and Veronica Roth.
We look forward to enjoying Northwestern's beautiful campus and adjacent Lake Michigan to build a unique and inspiring program. Students will experience entirely new academic content in this one week session - new readings, fresh lectures, and exciting speakers and guests.
The closest airport to Northwestern University is O'Hare International Airport (ORD) and is conveniently located about 30 minutes away by car.
